OmniIndex recently took part in the Bath Digital Festival. A UK tech event in historic Bath celebrating advancements in the digital and tech industries. We were invited to speak at the ‘Beyond the Chain’ event focussed on the real-world impact of blockchain.

OmniIndex’s Matt Bain decided to focus on how OmniIndex have built solutions focussed on integrating Web3 with existing Cloud infrastructure as opposed to replacing it with the intent of giving users back control of their files and data.

Matt outlined the core technologies in our solution – focussing on the blockchain storage – before moving to give a quick demo of our recently launched Dropblock.Online free file storage.

Everyone there was impressed with the speed that a new user is able to create their own unique blockchain file store, simply by registering with an email and password (Google Firebase).

This led onto an interesting discussion of the future of blockchain and why it has been more successfully adopted in some regions than others – for example in South America, India and Nigeria and not the UK. While no definitive answer was decided, one thing was unanimously agreed upon:

Blockchain and all emerging technologies need to focus on their real-world value and providing a genuinely needed solution for users.
