Introducing Dropblock.Online: Key Features and Uses
The Web3 File Store giving you your own blockchain storage and the ability to gain insights from your fully encrypted files
OmniIndex has launched our latest Web3 data solution: Dropblock.Online. It provides users with 2GB of free Web3 data storage for their files with just a simple sign in (Firebase).
It is designed to make it as simple as possible for users to store files in their own fully decentralized and immutable blockchain. While also giving OmniIndex an opportunity to share and test out our AI, homomorphic encryption and semantic search capabilities with active users.

As with all OmniIndex products, there is zero third-party access with it impossible for either us or our partners to access your files or data. This is because your content is encrypted end-to-end with keys only you have access to with them all individually and automatically created by OmniIndex’s own native Small Language Model AI system: Boudica.
There is a fair usage policy in place (available on the Dropblock Discord) in an attempt to control any illegal or disingenuous activity, however there are no explicit controls on what types of files can be uploaded and used. From corporate files, through to images and videos.
3 Key Features
Blockchain File Storage
Dropblock.Online uses OmniIndex’s own PostgresBC Data Platform for the blockchain storage. It is a hybrid-blockchain that OmniIndex has forked from the award winning Postgresql database. It can be hosted in a location of the user’s choice: for Dropblock.Online, the blockchains are hosted on Google Cloud.
Dropblock is based on a regular file store. As such, users can easily add folders and simply drag and drop files from their desktop or other storage and drop them into Dropblock. (Depending on the size of the file, bandwidth and other usual conditions, this could be very fast or very slow.)

All files and data uploaded to the blockchain are encrypted at all times using a combination of regular encryption, and OmniIndex’s patented homomorphic encryption and stored within your own sandboxed environment. The files are also immutable, decentralized and protected by zero-trust access with authentication and authorization continually checked by the native AI. (The AI is a private SLM that works on the fully encrypted files and data, ensuring there is no exposure or third-party access to a user’s content.)
As files cannot be maliciously edited once they have been uploaded, remain encrypted at all times and are stored in a decentralized network, they are effectively inoculated from ransomware attacks. This is because even if an attacker were to access the zero-trust system, they would be unable to overwrite any files with their own encryption; with them also unable to simply download the files and delete the originals from the Dropblock blockchain storage. In addition, Dropblock versions all of your files meaning that at any point in time you have the ability to go back to a specific file version. With the correct tools you could also compare versions of files. (Paid for version)
Fully Homomorphic Encryption
With traditional encryption methods, a file is encrypted with an authorized key and then anyone with the corresponding key can decrypt the data file and return it to its original form. It is a widely available measure with a low-cost of implementation. And, because it is widely used, there are a number of reliable and secure key management systems in place to ensure key security.
OmniIndex uses the same concept of encryption, but adds additional benefits through a patented process. This process defines data objects while encrypting the data enabling computations to be performed on the data in its encrypted state. (Learn more on our website)
Within Dropblock.Online, this means your files can remain encrypted while they are being searched or analyzed. This includes full-text searching for parts of a filename or author or path, as well as AI searching. For example, you could ask “Get me all files edited between x and y” or
“Get me all files that are about tech”. (Learn more on our website)
As a free service, the AI features are limited. However, the homomorphic encryption is used as part of the Private AI Summaries. (See below).
Private AI Summaries

Usually, generating AI summaries of files with AI solutions like Gemini would involve uploading them to a centralized AI platform, exposing your raw (decrypted) data to potential vulnerabilities. This is a significant concern for businesses dealing with confidential information, PII, or proprietary data as this data is then shared with those third-parties and put at risk.
Dropblock takes a radically different approach by centering the user and their data privacy above all else. We’ve built a secure, privacy-preserving ecosystem that allows you to harness the power of AI without sacrificing confidentiality.
Here’s how it works:
- Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) and PII Redaction: Files are encrypted using FHE, enabling computation on ciphertext. Simultaneously, Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is automatically redacted in a file when it is saved and uploaded to Dropblock.
- Private SLM Processing: The encrypted file is processed by “Boudica,” a specialized Small Language Model deployed within the secure environment. Boudica generates a condensed, PII-redacted version of the document.
This processed, non-sensitive summary is then securely leveraged by Google’s Gemini model to enhance the summary or answer general knowledge queries. The final summary is delivered in real-time within the Dropblock file store. The original, fully encrypted file and the PII are never directly exposed to Gemini or any third party.
Final Thoughts
OmniIndex are focussed on Web3 solutions enabling users to keep their data secure while it remains useable. With Dropblock, files are inoculated from ransomware and protected with Web3 while remaining easily accessible and useful with fully encrypted AI insights and Semantic Search.
